I get it. We’ve been there. We ARE there.
The ugliness and wickedness and burdens of the world are heavy on the shoulders, weighing us down, giving us a frustrated spirit. In all honesty, a lot of times it feels as though the devil has complete reign over the whole world and all his soldiers are marching around gaining victory over and over.
But, wait, he really does reign..in the HEARTS of a lot of the people in this world. This makes for so much sin and wickedness which can make our hearts so heavy and discouraged.
The result of the fall.
The world will continue to wax worse and worse. People will continue to live in and glorify all of their sins. And those of us who are Christ-followers will continue to walk the narrow road; even when our hearts are heavy or angered or burdened or frustrated with the godlessness all around us. But, while we are navigating the narrow road (which, Praise Jesus, leads to life), we have the Scriptures to reassure us and to remind us that God still stands and He is still sovereign over all. Over ALL. Yes, even over ALL the ugliness and wickedness.
J. I. Packer states, “He upholds His creatures in ordered existence, guides and governs all events, circumstances, and free acts of angels and men, and directs everything to its appointed goal, for His own glory.”
Not one thing gets overlooked by our Father. And this is why we can and should learn to fully trust Him.
This is a daily struggle for me. I have to mediate on trusting the Lord, even if it’s just for a few moments, each day. I have learned that while walking the narrow road It. Is. Imperative. that I instill biblical truths into myself, that I protect and cherish my relationship with my husband, that we instill biblical truths into our children and that we have fellowship time with other believers. I have noticed that making those things a priority helps me to lean on and trust Him more. He is still working on me, too. A LOT.
Don’t throw in the towel! Keep on walking this road, keep on trusting Him and keep on instilling into yourselves biblical truths.
Navigating the Narrow Road came-to-be out of the desire to share with you our musings while we navigate the narrow road that leads to life.
